  11.         Most encryption schemes are kept secret.  One exception is the
  12.         Data Encryption Standard (DES) which was issued by the U.S.
  13.         National Bureau of Standards.  Even the National Security Agency
  14.         (NSA) was intimately involved in the development and acceptance
  15.         testing of the algorithm.

  17.         Now we know where DES came from, but how does it work?  DES
  18.         performs its encryption by working on a block of 64 bits of your
  19.         data using a 64 bit key (we generate the 64 bit key from yours).
  20.         Basically DES is a substitution cipher.  We know this sounds very
  21.         technical but don't worry, we have hidden all the complexity of
  22.         DES behind an extremely easy to use interface.  Our context
  23.         sensitive help and extensive on-line manual makes protecting your
  24.         data a simple task.

  26.         Why did we choose to implement DES?  We chose DES because it is a
  27.         standard.  Its ability to protect your data is well documented.

  30.         encryption with DES as the final layer of protection for your
  31.         data.  Because of this approach, we feel your data is protected
  32.         far better than using DES by itself.
